Come with me on a journey across an ocean of grief

As much as we love horses, we take a moment to look and feel what is happening to our beautiful mother earth and this time especially to the Albatross.

Annual plastic production has increased rapidly since the 50s, reaching 322 million tons in 2015. It is expected that the production of plastics is likely to double by 2025, for example Starbucks produces 4 billion coffee cups each year, and tens of billions of bags of chips are sold each year by companies like Pepsi.

Only 9% of plastics are recycled, 12% are burned and the rest end up in landfills and the environment.

Plastics equal to a truckload enter the ocean every minute.  The ocean is already filled with about 165 million tons of plastics and by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. Plastics kill marine wildlife and thousands of birds. Scientists have found that plastics affect 700 species in the oceans.

When it comes to the Albatross, 97% of dead chicks on the North Western Hawaiian islands had plastics in their stomach.

Plastic is a human invention and plastics can have useful purposes. If governments banned and prohibited big corporations from producing and using plastics from   fossil fuels a new production plant based plastics industry could raise.
